The tasks and responsibilities of you as a volunteer will vary on a daily basis, but the main focus lies on our Menstruation Cup Project which is a device that changes women's lives every single day. The World Bank estimates that 20% of the education of a girl living in the developing world is missed due to having her periods. Tampons and pads are too expensive to these women. In Kenya alone, it is estimated that about 300 million working days are lost annually due to women staying at home during their menses. We want to change this, Period!
We realize that the menstrual cup is an unknown device to many of you so we urge you to please read about these miracle cups.
We focus on presenting the menstrual cup at girls’ schools in the local communities which also involves health education. We have expert trainers that teaches girls and women groups about how the female reproductive system works, what it means to be a virgin, how STIs are transmitted, and of course how to properly use, store, sterilize a menstrual cup.
Our other projects include assisting at one of the local orphanages with everyday tasks, and designing lessons about general health as well as environmental issues for the children at a local secondary school. We also collaborate with other organizations, such as one that works towards preventing parasitic infestation in children’s feet and hands, where we help them treat the infected areas and teach the locals about how to best prevent further outbreaks while giving the children new shoes.
An important part of the volunteers work is to be active on social media to raise awareness about our projects, coming up with new projects and attempting to raise funds for the different projects. We are looking for pro-active and dynamic volunteers with an urge to help change the world one step at the time.
